Skip Hire FAQs

Everything You Need to Know

If you’re hiring a skip for the first time — or just want to double-check what’s allowed — you’re in the right place. Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions we get at Peak Waste Recycling.

You can keep the skip for 7 days from the date of delivery. If needed, you can pay a small fee to extend this period. For hire periods longer than one month, please contact our Customer Service team on 0161 737 4545.

You can place any items in the skip except tyres, electrical items, mattresses, liquids, or hazardous materials. We are licensed to dispose of some of these items for an additional charge. Please speak with our Customer Service team prior to ordering your skip on 0161 737 4545.
Generally speaking, we have very few problems with skip safety. Liability for the skip is with the person that hired the skip during the duration of the hire.
The skip is delivered by one of our fleet of vehicles, similarly, unless you specifically choose your date of collection we will collect the skip 7 days after delivery.
We process all waste and we pride ourselves on sending zero to landfill.
The cost of the skip includes delivery, disposal of material in it and collection. If required, we will also arrange a permit from the relevant Local Authority.
For the vehicle to safely place the skip we need approx. 3m width.

The skip can be placed anywhere on your land as long as there is sufficient space for our vehicle to access it. It can also be positioned on a public road or verge; however, we will need to arrange a permit from the relevant Local Authority. This can all be organised through our online booking facility, but can often take up to 7 days during busy periods so please factor this in to your booking. If you’re unsure, one of our Customer Service Advisors will be more than happy to help – call us on 0161 737 4545. More about Manchester Council skip permits.
